‘Cause Dirt Don’t Hurt: Chocolate Pudding Dirt Cake

Yes, we’ve all see the incredibly common Dirt and Worms Dessert at some point in our lives. Crushed Oreo cookies will always be mixed with chocolate pudding; it has turned into a dessert inevitability. But, what do you say to making this common dessert with cake instead? Wouldn’t it make it ten times better? Why yes, yes it would.

How to:

Bake a chocolate cake using your favorite recipe, or MY FAVORITE CHOCOLATE CAKE RECIPE.

When baking the cake, use two square (or rectangular) cake pans. Distribute 2/3 of the batter into one pan, and the remaining 1/3 into another. The thinner cake will be using for the cake crumbles.

Use your favorite pudding recipe, or an instant mix. Prepare this ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge.

Once your cake has baked, then cooled, and your pudding has set, break the thin cake up into little pieces. Place it in a blender until you have fine crumbs.

Assemble your dessert by spreading pudding over the cake base, then sprinkling it with the cake crumbs. You may, of course, add worms for decoration.
