Top your favorite cupcakes with this fun, flavorful, sweet, and fruity icing recipe! I wanted to create something magical using one of my favorite candies, Laffy Taffy. Since I like to eat the banana flavored pieces 2 at a time, I left them out of the recipe. I used the grape, apple, and strawberry. If you want a specific icing flavor, just stick to one flavor of the candy. Since I used the grape flavor, it overpowered the strawberry and apple a bit, but still turned out to be delicious!
Laffy Taffy Icing:
Recipe makes enough to pipe 1 dozen cupcakes
10 pieces of Laffy Taffy (fun size)
2 Tbsp Milk
1/2 C Butter
1/2 Tsp Vanilla
1 1/2- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
Spray your saucepan with ‘Pam’, then combine the unwrapped Laffy Taffy pieces and 1 Tbsp milk on high. Let simmer, then turn to low and stir until the candy melts. If you use grape, it will be brown!
Combine butter and a bit of powdered sugar in your mixer. Add 1 Tbsp milk and beat. Add the melted Laffy Taffy and vanilla. Continue to add powdered sugar until you reach your desired consistency. The icing won’t be white, but you’re welcome to add food coloring to reach your desired color.
